All-Emory LISTSERV List

Emory University uses the All-Emory LISTSERV list to communicate to the entire Emory population by email. This email list is refreshed each morning from multiple data sources.

The All-Emory list is used to communicate Clery Act safety notifications, emergency alerts, other priority notifications as well as general important Emory news, announcements and official messages. Emory is required by law to communicate some of these notifications to all Emory users.

All Emory active employees (University and Healthcare) and sponsored accounts are included in this list. Sponsored accounts are accounts created for special purposes, including accounts for individuals who are not employees or enrolled students.

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Why did I receive an email from my list to my (non-Emory) email account?
At some point, you likely had an Emory account created for you. This may have been as faculty, staff, student, or sponsored account. Your Emory email account was then set to forward to a non-Emory email address. See the other questions below to help determine your best scenario.

Current Employees

  • How do I get removed from this email list?
Active faculty, staff, students, and sponsored accounts are not able to permanently opt out of these emails. Emory uses the All-Emory LISTSERV list to communicate priority notifications. If you were previously approved to have Emory email forwarded, you will receive these emails where your email is configured to forward to. You may request to disable email forwarding, however this will make all Emory email deliver to your Emory mailbox.

  • What if I do not want all the emails sent to this list?
Emory works to minimize the amount of email send to the All-Emory list. However, some information sent is not applicable to everyone. In this case, it is recommended to simply delete these individual messages.

Former Employees

  • I am no longer employed by Emory, so why am I still getting these emails?
It is possible you are no longer with Emory, but still have an active account. This can happen if changes to your status by Human Resources do not have time to fully process, or if your account is still processing through the account deletion cycle.
    - First: Reach out to your former HR representative in the department. They must initiate the HR processes.
    - Second: Please contact the Emory University LITS Service Desk at 404-727-7777. You may request to disable email forwarding for your account. This will make Emory email deliver to your Emory mailbox rather than your personal email account.

Former Students

  • I am not enrolled at Emory, so why am I still getting these emails?
Alumni will retain accounts longer than students taking time off between academic periods. This allows recent graduates time to transition to other email provider, and to check email for replies to job searches / school applications.

Sponsored Accounts

  • I only took one class or temporarily contracted with Emory; how do I stop these emails?
In some cases, sponsored accounts are created for guests, former students, and former faculty. Sponsored account removal must be initiated by a request from the account sponsor. You will need to reach out to your account sponsor to get your account removed. If you are unable to identify your account sponsor, please call the Emory University LITS Service Desk at 404-727-7777.

Departmental Human Resources Representatives

  • I had an inquiry as to why a former employee¿s account was still active and forwarding. I entered into the system that they are no longer employed by Emory. What else do I need to do?
If the account is still active and is already not showing as eligible for email service, it may just be pending the normal account deletion cycles. Please contact the Emory University LITS Service Desk at 404-727-7777 for any cases of forwarded email issues or issues involving sensitive accounts.

Sponsors of Sponsored Accounts

  • I sponsored an account and was asked to remove it. What do I need to do?
Please call the Emory University LITS Service Desk at 404-727-7777 and ask the Service Desk to remove sponsorship for all accounts you need to have removed. This will begin the removal process for these accounts.

Others

  • None of these scenarios apply to me. How do I get these emails to stop?
Please call the Emory University LITS Service Desk at 404-727-7777 and ask for a support request to be opened. The Service Desk will help determine why you have an Emory account, and can help route your request to correct support team for assistance.
