Access: Emory University faculty, staff, students, and individuals with approved Sponsored Accounts A Network ID (NetID) is a unique identifier which is comprised of a person's first initial and portions of their last name and sometimes distinguishing numbers. The NetID is the first part (to the left of the @ sign) of an individual's email address at Emory. For example, the NetID for "Jonathan Doe: jdoe17@emory.edu" would be jdoe17. (also see: Email Alias) Authorized faculty, staff, and students are assigned individual network user accounts. Each user account is issued a unique NetID and default password that permits access to computing services like email. Once the network account is created, the user may change the default password to a secure, personally created password. Every user is responsibile for ensuring that the network activity associated with their NetID is in accordance with Emory's information technology (IT) guidelines, policies, standards and practices. Individuals not recognized as Emory University faculty, staff, or students by Human Resources or the Registrar's Office may be granted a sponsored account NetID with permission from an eligible member of the faculty or staff at Emory University.
