Printing - Mac OS Pharos Install Instructions

How to setup Pharos printing on Mac Laptops (Mac OS Leopard 10.5)

1. Download the Pharos Popup.dmg installer file here.

 Double-click to expand it.

2.  Now double-click the Popup.pkg file and the Pharos installer should start.

3.  Click next, update, and continue as necessary until the installer gives you a window with a close button stating the installation was complete.

4.  Click on the Apple icon and go to System Preferences.



5.  Click the Printer and Fax icon.

6.  Click the plus sign to add a new printer.



7. The following window should pop up:



8.  Hold down the control-key and click on the area next to the search box at the top of the window.  From the dialogue box, select Customize Toolbar.



9. A window should pop up allowing you to customize your toolbar.  Drag the Advanced icon into the toolbar:



10. Click the Advanced button.  

11. Pull down the Type box and select "Pharos Print Server".

12. In the Device URI text-field you will need to enter the exact address of the print queue(popup://server name/queue name), then the name of the printer (generally the queue name again), and the model/driver for that printer (if you don't know this, the generic driver usually works).  

Please check with support staff in each location for specific printer settings!



13.  After entering the specific info for the printer you are setting up, click the Add button.

14.  An Installable Options box should appear as shown below.  If double-sided printing is an option at the location where you want to print, be sure the duplex option is checked and click Continue.  You should now be able to print.
