Contact: http://help.emory.edu or 404-727-7777 Emory's Antivirus-Spam Filtering Service from Postini, Inc., helps detect viruses in email originating from outside Emory and acts as a filter to reduce the volume of unwanted email, "spam," delivered to university email accounts. Inbound email from sources outside Emory is scanned for viruses and spam at Emory's "perimeter gateway," before delivery to email inboxes:
When any of your email is quarantined, you will receive an email in your inbox that day at 4 p.m. with a list of the quarantined email, which can be safely viewed and managed from your Message Center. The Message Center: Features tools for setting personal preferences for spam management and for reviewing, delivering and deleting quarantined junk email. See Getting Started for more information on setting up and using your Message Center. IMPORTANT NOTICE: Emory's antivirus-spam filtering service does not replace the need to install antivirus software or keep system software updated on Emory desktop computers. Even with the added benefits of antivirus-spam filtering at the network's perimeter, all members of Emory's computing community must remain vigilant about implementing safe computing practices on their servers and desktop computers. |
