Information Technology at Emory: Overview

Emory University has a distributed information technology environment that provides varying levels of support, projects, platforms, and services to faculty, students, clinicians, patients, and staff.  Providing University-wide and Healthcare specific services are three IT divisions (Emory Healthcare Information Services, University Technology Services, and Research and Health Sciences Information Technology) that report directly into the Office of Information Technology. Local IT departments provide IT support dedicated to a specific school or a department.

Office of Information Technology (OIT)
Provides leadership and direction for information technology (IT) services across Emory University and Emory Healthcare. Enterprise IT groups under the direction of OIT include: Healthcare Information Systems, Research and Health Sciences IT, and University Technology Services,.

Emory Healthcare Information Services (EHc-IS)
Provides guidance, input and direction in the selection, installation and support of IT solutions that meet the goals of fiscal, operational and clinical improvement for Emory Healthcare. Key IT initiatives include electronic medical record (EeMR), enterprise medical imaging, and clinical data warehouse.

Research and Health Sciences (R&HS)
Supports and advances the research IT environment for researchers across the University. In addition, the Division works with each Woodruff Health Sciences Center unit to optimize information technology support and services. Key initiatives and services include: high performance computing cluster, collaboration environments, server provisioning, and consultation.

University Technology Services (UTS)
Delivers IT services to Emory's academic and administrative communities. Key services include email and calendaring, administrative systems, academic systems, technology-enriched classrooms and computer labs, and information security. In addition, UTS delivers data center operations networking and telephony services to Emory University and Emory Healthcare.
