Emory University provides access to external Information Technology consulting firms. Access to their information is to assist Emory's IT professionals understand new technologies, make plans, and choose products.

Gartner Group is a consulting company that studies and analyzes IT and its use by organizations, and helps organizations use IT to improve themselves through measurement and application of best practices. Its research includes technologies and issues and their impact, recommended strategies and practices, and analyses of markets. It is one of the few research and advisory services that covers Higher Education as a market segment in addition to the usual types of businesses.
