Required Qualifications*

  • Must be an Emory undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in classes
  • Must have GPA of 2.5 or better 
  • Able to work a minimum of 10 hours per week
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • A desire to learn new technologies and skills
  • Strong work ethic

Student Digital Life employs student technology consultants to provide support throughout SDL spaces for all printing, workstation hardware and software, scanning, recreational gaming, microforms and collaboration technologies and services.  Student staff also circulate equipment specific to SDL spaces and make referrals to LITS and other Emory services. In addition, they provide facility and maintenance support to ensure our spaces remain inviting and clean environments.

Additional Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience using Mac and/or Windows operating systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Due to extensive training, preference is given to rising sophomores and juniors
  • Experience working in a client/customer support environment
  • Background in digital media creation (video, visual design, image manipulation)
  • Computer troubleshooting/support experience highly desirable

Student Digital Life employs student technicians at Student Technology Support (STS), located on the first floor of Woodruff Library.  STS provides technical support and assistance for a variety of issues on student-owned devices and is available as a free service to all Emory students on a first-come, first-served basis. Most issues are handled relatively quickly on a walk-in basis, while some more complicated issues require a device to be checked in for further evaluation and diagnostic testing by our student technicians.

Additional Requirements:

  • Graduation date of at least 4 semesters away
  • Working knowledge of Mac and Windows operating systems

Located within the Computing Center at Cox Hall, the TechLab is staffed with student technology consultants and serves as a research and development space for new and emerging technologies.  Here, Emory faculty, staff and students can explore and evaluate technologies to enhance their academic lives working with 3D scanning and printing as well as a SMART kapp interactive whiteboard.  The Emory community is encouraged to stop by the Tech Lab to experiment with the technology and to partner with our staff to develop academic projects that incorporate these emerging technologies.
