Software Availability

During this time of remote learning, please use the table below to locate needed software:

  • Free download available from their website.
  • If you would like suggestions for other 3D modeling applications, contact TechLab at SDL-help@emory.edu to find the most appropriate solution for your needs.
Camtasia
  • Not available remotely
  • Alternative: QuickTime - Mac users can use QuickTime to capture video from their desktop and iOS devices (via Lightning Cable).
  • Alternatiive: MacOS Mojave and later - If you're using macOS Mojave, just hit the keyboard shortcut Shift+⌘+5 and all the controls for capturing video and still images from your desktop will appear.
  • Alternative: Xbox Game App - Windows 10 users can use the Game Bar to do some quick screen captures.
DaVinci Resolve
  • Free download available from their website (scroll down to the bottom of the page).
EndNote
  • Available through Emory’s Software Distribution. Go to https://it.emory.edu/software/ and select the "Software Express" link. Then authenticate to the Products Page to download and license this software.
Final Cut Pro X
  • Request remote access to on-campus lab machines with Final Cut here.
  • A 90-day trial is available at this site.
  • Windows Alternative: Windows 10 users have access to Windows Photo and Movie Editor.
  • macOS Alternative: iMovie is installed by default on macOS.
Garageband

Logic Pro X
  • Request remote access to on-campus lab machines with Logic Pro X here.
  • Alternative: Audacity is an open-source, multi-platform, audio editing software that can be downloaded for free. Adobe Audition audio editing software is available within Adobe CC, see above.
Matlab
  • Licensing is available through Emory's Software Distribution. Go to https://it.emory.edu/software/ and select the "Software Express" link. Then authenticate to the Products Page and use the mathworks.com/account student link to download and license MATLAB.
Mathematica
  • Individual licenses and online access are available through Emory’s Software Distribution. Go to https://it.emory.edu/software/ and select the "Software Express" link. Then authenticate to the Products Page and use the Wolfram Portal link for students to download and license Mathematica. There’s also a selection for registering your computer to use Mathematica Online.
MaxQDA
  • Request remote access to on-campus lab machines with MaxQDA here
  • In light of recent events, the free trial, available here, has been extended to 30 days. 
Meshmixer
  • Free download available from their website.

Microsoft Office365
  • Desktop: You can access your Emory license for Office365 as an installed application by following the instructions here.
  • Web-Based: You may also access the online version of Office365 by logging in here.

  • R is available for free download from their website.
    • You must select a download location (eg: "CRAN Mirror") before given access. Choose a location that is closest to you. If you have trouble, attempt another location.
  • RStudio Desktop is available for free download from their website.
    • Please note the version. Most users are looking for the free "Open Source License" of Desktop.
PluralEyes
  • Red Giant offers a free trial option. Once the free trial is done, all work includes a red "X" watermark. You may purchase an academic license at any time during your trial.
SAS
  • Emory’s Software Distribution has the latest SAS 9.4 release. Go to https://it.emory.edu/software/ and select the "Software Express" link. Then authenticate to the Products Page, where SAS is posted under the Microsoft Windows section.
Sibelius
SketchUp
  • SketchUp Personal is available for free.

SOLIDWORKS
  • The developer offers a Student Edition at a reduced cost.

SPSS
  • SPSS 26 and 27 for Windows and Mac are available through Emory’s Software Distribution. Go to https://it.emory.edu/software/ and select the "Software Express" link. Then authenticate to the Products Page to download and license this software.
