Flavors of Echo360
Appliance Capture
Select classrooms around campus are equipped with a special Echo360 hardware appliance that can simultaneously capture any two input sources of a classroom (classroom computer, external laptop, mounted video camera, document camera, cable tv, etc.). The typical use case is that both the classroom PC and the mounted video camera are simultaneously recorded. The Echo360 hardware appliance also allows for the live streaming of two sources from a classroom. To see if you are teaching in an Echo360 podium capture classroom, please contact your local support person. If so, you may request an Echo360 course. Student access recordings through a distributed URL or through your Blackboard course.
Classroom Capture
Select classrooms around campus are equipped with special software that captures audio, the computer screen, and in some cases optional webcam video. To see if you are teaching in an Echo360 podium capture classroom, please contact your local support person. If so, you may then request an account. Student access recordings through a distributed URL or through your Blackboard course.
Personal Capture Software
Instructors and staff of eligible schools/divisions may install the Echo360 personal capture software on your Windows or Mac OS X machine. The software enables users to capture audio, screen, and optionally video, through use of a built-in or external webcam. The software can be used on your office desktop or installed on a laptop to use in a classroom that's not equipped with Classroom Capture. This is also a great option for training materials, supplemental course content, or "flipped" classroom modules. Students (or alternate audience) access recordings through a distributed URL or through your Blackboard course. To request a personal capture license, please contact your local IT support person.
