VPNTOOLS Readme =============== Questions, contact securityteam-l@listserv.emory.edu BIGIPWindowsEdgeClient[version].exe ----------------------------------- Standard client for Windows users that should be used instead of the web version of the F5 VPN. BIGIPMacEdgeClient[version].zip ------------------------------- Standard client for Mac users that should be used instead of the web version of the F5 VPN. mac_f5epi_7.2.4.2.pkg --------------------- This file should be installed AFTER the BIGIPMacEdgeClient. Starting with MacOS 13.1, the F5 client stopped working. This new Mac Client 7.2.4.2 now works but requires that users install the endpoint protection package as well. Those will admin rights will get prompted to install this package automatically, but those who require desktop support teams to install and update the clients for them, will need this package installed after they have installed/updated the client. f5wininfo.exe ------------- Troubleshooting tool for the F5 VPN. Often used to remove F5 VPN components so that the user can start a VPN session with a fresh install. Doing this solves many VPN connection problems. Remove Components: Close all browsers From the menu bar, go to Tools->Remove Components Check "Delete user settings" and uncheck "Generate report..." Open browser and try again Generate Report: From the menu bar, go to File->Generate Report Select all the options and the HTML Format This report will often help identify client issues BIGIPComponentInstallerMSI[version].msi --------------------------------------- This tool installs the necessary components for the VPN to work. Same as the F5EdgeGatewayComponents.exe tool, except that this is an msi. Once these components are installed, the user no longer need admin privileges to run the VPN from their browser. linux_sslvpn[version].tgz ------------------------- After the lastest VPN upgrade on March 17, 2015, Linux users will need to use this file to manually update the F5 VPN components. Follow these steps: 1. Copy the linux_sslvpn.tgz file to the root directory of your Linux machine, i.e., / 2. From the root directory run the following command: tar xpzvf /linux_sslvpn.tgz 3. Run the extracted Install.sh as root. 4. Try connecting to the VPN again If still having problems, try the following: 1. Open FireFox 2. Go to about:addons 3. Remove any F5 addons 4. Go to about:plugins 5. Find the path to any F5 plugins 6. Delete those plugins 7. Go to vpn.emory.edu 8. Click on the link for the manual install 9. Install linux_inspectionhost.xpi if prompted 10.Restart FireFox 11. Go to vpn.emory.edu 12. Click on the link for the manual install 13. Save the linux_sslvpn[version].tgz file (NOTE: may want to rename it to linux_sslvpn.tgz for the next command) 14. Go to your terminal and run $tar -xf Downloads/linux_sslvpn.tgz (your browser may be configured to save downloads in a different directory than Downloads/) 15. Run $sudo Downloads/Install.sh or $sudo bash Downloads/Install.sh 16. Run $sudo mv Downloads/webinstaller/ /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/ 17. Run $sudo mv Downloads/Install.sh /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/ 18. Restart FireFox 19. Go to vpn.emory.edu 20. Sign in whenever prompted 21. Click Allow if prompted 22. Click Install if prompted 23. Provide root password if prompted (if FireFox freezes during the install restart FireFox) 24. Restart FifreFox if prompted and you should now be connecting to vpn once you�ve logged in
