Emory University LITS IT Data Solutions
LITS IT Data Solutions assists Emory University departments, biomedical research projects, and individual investigators in many aspects of data management and reporting. Informatics Analysts in the team are authorized to access Emory healthcare and biomedical research data sources and are trained to comply with security and privacy rules prescribed by HIPAA and Emory guidelines. Analysts are experienced in retrieving, validating, manipulating and aggregating data from intricate and disparate data sources, to provide services that support activities associated to analyzing research and academic data.
LITS IT Data Solutions partners with the Emory community through several different funding models. The flexibility of models allows the Data Solutions team to work with partners to meet their varying needs and funding sources in the best way.
LITS IT Data Solutions can provide data services to the Emory community through a recharge center. A request is submitted to the Data Solution team and an estimate of cost is provided to requestor. A majority of requests are data extractions from the clinical data warehouse but may also include any of the other services offered by Data Solutions. Service Center requests are typically discrete short term engagements that can be set up as one-time or scheduled, recurring occurrences. The service center request process can be started by completing the new request form.

Dedicated Informatics Analyst
Departments and research programs that require a dedicated analyst can choose to partner with Data Solutions to identify an individual that can support the unique needs of that group. Data Solutions leadership provides oversight through training, supervision, and subject management expertise, while the department or program provides the direction and priority of work. A Data Solutions analyst has the advantage of tapping into the experience of the rest of the Data Solutions team, and is trained in the standard operating procedures for adhering to regulatory guidelines and best practices. Within this model, a participating analyst's funding comes from his or her supported group.
Currently, Data Solutions supports the following departments under this model: Radiology Imaging, Emory Transplant Center, Department of Surgery, Anesthesiology Department, Neurology ADRC, DAB Core,
When an IT initiative has high complexity and requires multiple skill sets, the Data Solutions team can synchronize efforts with other support services within the LITS organization. The Emory PMO (Project Management Office) can provide coordination of large projects using resources from the Data Solutions
group along with other LITS resources such as application developers, business analysts and solution architects. Partnerships may be through allocation or service center sources and will necessitate a high level of governance and customer engagement.
Currently, Data Solutions supports the following projects: Brain Health Center, Emory Healthy Aging Study, Wounded Warrior Project, Surgical Critical Care Initiative, Center For Aids Research
