Online Software Distribution, or Software Express, is Emory University's secure delivery system. It facilitates the distribution of software by enabling the downloading of any package for which the University maintains an Enterprise License.
This service provides more control over software distribution verses the old method of downloading software from burned CDs. Distribution via burned CD always puts computers at risk of contracting a virus. On the other hand, online software has already been configured for Emory and is uploaded onto the network once. Users then download software from the Emory network, which is constantly monitored and therefore a secure, clean source.
Emory students, faculty, and staff may subscribe to this service to download freely distributable or site-licensed software, such as anti-virus software etc.
Promotes a Virus-Free Network: Gives easy access to virus-protection software
Self Service: Facilitates distribution of software across Emory, thereby reducing costs and time of IT Support staff
Efficient and Reliable: Ensures that software is configured for Emory and comes from a clean source
