High Performance Computing (HPC)

Emory's Office of Information Technology (OIT) supports High Performance Computing (HPC) on campus through a relationship with Amazon Web Services (AWS) as a preferred vendor.  The HPC team can meet with you directly to help you set up an account, create a virtual private cloud (VPC) as well as Amazon Machine Images (AMI). The team will also provide necessary trainings to get you started.

Amazon Web Services:

The AWS Cloud provides a broad set of infrastructure services, such as computing power, storage options, networking and databases, delivered as a utility: on-demand, available in minutes, with pay-as-you-go pricing.

For more information, please refer to the Emory AWS Service catalog.

Key Features and Benefits

Advantages and Benefits of Cloud Computing

  • Computing infrastructure in a cloud environment.

  • Highly redundant and optimized data centers that spans multiple regions.

  • Wide array of services.

  • Ability to spin up servicers with different configurations (e.g., memory intensive, GPU, optimized for storage, etc.) then spin them down again.

  • Eliminate guessing on your infrastructure capacity needs. You can access as much or as little as you need, and scale up and down as required with only a few minutes notice.
