Commercial Data Protection for Microsoft Copilot (formerly Bing chat)

The OIT Enterprise Messaging & Directory Services (EMDS) team offers a free AI chat service called Commercial Data Protection for Microsoft Copilot, which is available to all members of Emory University and Emory Healthcare. The new tool provides intelligent assistance across a wide range of tasks, including generating graphics. 

The tool is an innovative and secure AI chat companion designed to enhance productivity, creativity, and communication. Commercial data protection for Microsoft Copilot is Emory's secure instance of Microsoft's Bing search engine enhanced with leading OpenAI ChatGPT4 generative AI technology (formerly "Bing Chat Enterprise").

It is an AI-powered platform that leverages OpenAI's ChatGPT4 technology with commercial-level data protection. This platform is a protected environment that provides greater security for Emory users and business data than external AI chat tools (like Google's Gemini, Anthropic's Claude, or the public offerings of OpenAI).  

Note: Microsoft offers multiple versions of Copilot. This is the commercial data protection for the Microsoft Copilot version, not the Copilot version for Microsoft 365.

Commercial data protection for Microsoft Copilot is an AI-powered chat tool that provides intelligent assistance across a wide range of tasks. Here’s what you need to know:

  1. Secure and Free: Once you’ve logged in with your Emory credentials, interactions with Copilot are confidential, and Microsoft does not store any of the data. Plus, it offers completely free versions of the cutting-edge OpenAI models, including ChatGPT4 and Dall-e3.
  2. Emory Data-Friendly: The tool enables the secure use of ChatGPT4 with any Emory data except Personal Health Information (PHI) or Individual Health Information (IHI). Emory Faculty or Staff members who need to use Generative AI tools with Emory data are strongly encouraged to use this official offering rather than other free or commercial options unless already approved.
  3. Graphic Generator: Commercial data protection for Microsoft Copilot includes a powerful graphic generator. To access it, log in and explore the creative possibilities
