Wireless Mystery Solved!

July 16, 2010

Since the opening of the new addition of the Computing Center at Cox Hall, people have noticed a substandard wireless experience near the Clean Room. Steve Zimmer and Stan Brooks (Infrastructure) believed the problem was unidentified interference. There was conjecture about the massive microwaves downstairs cooking bacon, or perhaps traffic coming off the satellite dishes above the Cox ballroom, but no solid lead. Then, Mike Fowler and Greg Hall (Academic Technologies) teamed up with Clean Room Coordinator Robert Kruse to isolate one specific motion detector in Cox that was flooding the area with interference. Motion detector gone, wireless becomes a wonder, and we're back in business! Great sleuthing, gentlemen!
